From October 3 to October 11, 2026, the 54th annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta returns to Balloon Fiesta Park.

Because morning launches begin around 7:00 a.m. and field gates open as early as 4:30 a.m., advance planning makes all the difference:

• Dress in Layers: High-desert autumn mornings are brisk and can dip into the upper 30s or 40s Fahrenheit, but afternoons often warm into sunny, comfortable 70s.

• Take the Park & Ride: Traffic along Alameda Boulevard can back up heavily on peak ascension mornings. Dedicated Park & Ride buses offer direct access to avoid general parking congestion and include admission when booked in advance.

• New Mexico Day Benefit: In celebration of the local community, Monday, October 5 offers free general admission to New Mexico residents with a valid state ID.

• Field Etiquette: Unlike many aviation events, spectators at Balloon Fiesta Park are allowed to walk directly onto the launch field amongst the chase crews. Remember to yield right of way to launch directors (known affectionately as "Zebras" for their striped referee attire) and give crew lines plenty of clearance.
